One bale of our long leaf pine needles generally covers approximately 50 square feet when covering an area the first time. When topdressing an existing layer of pine needles one will most likely get more than 75 square feet of coverage with each bale. When comparing the cost of the finished product our pine needles will generally be 25 to 30 percent less than most of our competition.
The pine needles fall naturally each year from the longleaf pine trees which make them a renewable commodity. They retain moisture naturally; have great insulation properties from the heat and cold; stay in place with the flow of water better than most mulches. They do not have any shotgun fungus problems and water is allowed to reach the protected plants freely (no hard shell is formed from the deteriating mulch).
